Broccoli

This week, circumstances have lent themselves to much knitting, primarily because I had to go to a conference for work. I had helped organize for it beforehand, but on the day, didn't have to present or anything. So as I was sitting in the audience, I rummaged in my bag and found a take-along project that I usually knit on in waiting rooms, etc., like when I'm getting an oil change (something else that happened this week). So I finished! And here they are:

Broccoli Driving Mitts

1 skein of Kuigo (a discontinued green)
size 4 DPNs and one tiny clover plastic circular sz 4
suede mitten palms (from Fiber Trends)
This is my One Skein of Koigu Gloves pattern...

Gotta love the black!

yesterday I finished the second black shrug - this one from Berroco Zen - a cotton tape yarn... I really love it! I made picot edging along the sleeves and hem instead of ribbing, so its different from the first one. The collar isn't exactly how I wanted it though - I just couldn't figure out how to do picot edging and short rows at the same time! The sleeves on this one are a little longer too.

The label is from some printed tape I got at a scrapbooking store. I'm not into scrapbooking at all, but I went with a friend who is and looked for things I could use with my knitting!

I think I'm done with this pattern for awhile... I have a new Dalegarden pattern for a mock-turtleneck with a little lace edging that I'm dying to try. I found a few balls of Svale yarn (black, of course) for it...

BTW - I also finished Marky's Koigu gloves but I won't post a picture until after he receives them in the mail... slow boat to Australia!

Cheshire cat knitting

Will I look like the Cheshire Cat?

So..... I've been knitting this Shrug:

with this handpainted loopy mohair that I got at the Sheep and Wool Fair last year and its coming out much more stripy than I thought it would. It really makes me think of the purple striped Cheshire Cat in Disney's Alice in Wonderland Here's a pic of the WIP... you can see that I'm making the sleeves longer than the pattern says. I'm also making them belled sleeves, and about 3/4 length - down between my elbow and wrist. .... So I'm wondering...do you think I'll look like the Chesire Cat when I wear this? I was trying for charmingly artsy!

Last night I made a wonderful surprise! I discovered and Harry Potter Crafts (Yahoo Group)! What wonderful things folks are making!! Its so inspiring and makes me wish I had more time and more time and more time... I'd love to make that big crazy crocheted sweater that Mrs. Weazley was wearing in HPCOS!
